MR DIBBS brings OHIO DIRT to Strange Famous!

The newest Strange Famous artist is one of our oldest comrades, collaborators, and friends… SFR is proud (and slightly terrified) to welcome MR. DIBBS to the roster!

His SFR debut LP “Ohio Dirt” is available now on Vinyl LP, Cassette, CD, and Digital Download – and is streaming wherever you listen to music!

If you are somehow unfamiliar with this oppositional & defiant villainous veteran who’s been digging up graves & digging in crates since the ’90s, here’s just a fraction of the math….

• Co-founder of the hip hop collective 1200 Hobos

• Co-founder of the foundational indie rap music festival Scribble Jam

• Touring DJ for Atmosphere (2000-2005)

• DJ for El-P (Run The Jewels / Company Flow / Def Jux) during the “I’ll Sleep When You’re Dead” era

• Producer of the soundtrack/original score “Primitive Tracks” for the Habitat / Alien Workshop Photosynthesis aka “the orange tape”

• Has legit worked with, performed with, and collaborated with everyone from Atmosphere to Z-Trip (see what we did there)

OHIO DIRT” is his first release on Strange Famous Records, and it’s as unorthodox as its creator: sonically stamped with ‘For Advanced Placement Students Only‘ in invisible bloody red ink.

Legendary producer, turntablist, DJ and all-around general menace… Mr. Effin Dibbs.

What do you do with hundreds of circuit-bent toys, synthesizers, keyboards, drum machines, Euro rack modules, and obscure dialogue that’s been deconstructed, sampled, and then turned into twenty hours of sequential music?

You chop it down to forty minutes of sound, nineteen-ish minutes for each side, two tracks that tell two different stories.

Now wait out a global fuckin’ pandemic and a fire at the only plant that produces vinyl pellets, and here we are.

“Ohio Dirt” is not your standard DJ record… This is chaos math. A layered message hidden in a riddle that you overheard from your drunk uncle who just got back from Camp Hero.

So buckle up… put on your headphones, take a deep breath, and we’ll see you on the other side.
